Could This New Tool Transform Quality of Life Tracking in Lymphedema? | MASCC 2025

In this MASCC 2025 episode, Catharine Bowman, a third-year PhD candidate at Stanford University, presents her team’s innovative work on a new quality of life assessment tool for lymphedema patients.

The tool is a short, sliding-scale questionnaire designed to evaluate quality of life in lymphedema patients within the context of interventions. Unlike traditional tools that work best at static time points, it aims to provide valid, repeated-measure assessments that reflect changes during treatment. Catharine shares early findings showing strong correlation with dynamic symptoms and stability in non-dynamic aspects of the disease, as well as next steps to assess test-retest reliability and treatment responsiveness.

This research offers a promising new approach to tracking quality of life in lymphedema care and could become a valuable tool in clinical intervention studies.

This year, OncoDaily Special covered the MASCC 2025.
