Fabien Maldonado Joins LUNGevity in Advancing Lung Cancer Awareness

Fabien Maldonado, Professor of Medicine and Thoracic Surgery, Director, Vanderbilt University Interventional Pulmonology Section, shared on LinkedIn:

“I’m honored to support the upcoming Every Breath Forward Flag Planting Event, a national initiative led by LUNGevity Foundation to raise awareness and honor those affected by lung cancer. In partnership with the Vanderbilt ALCSI Chapter, Lipscomb ALCSI, and Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, this event will take place on November 7 at 9 a.m. on the Centennial Park West Lawn.

I hope you can join us as we come together to recognize the impact of lung cancer and the importance of research, screening, and early detection.”

Every Breath Forward is a nationwide campaign by LUNGevity Foundation that uses white flag installations to honor lives lost to lung cancer, support survivors, and raise awareness about the importance of research, screening, and early detection. Through community events and university partnerships, the initiative aims to bring greater attention to lung cancer and encourage action toward improving patient outcomes.

Its main installation on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., includes 60,000 white flags, each representing two of the more than 120,000 people who die from lung cancer in the U.S. every year.

Beyond remembering those who have lost their lives, the initiative also recognizes survivors and people currently living with the disease, while highlighting the importance of early detection, regular screening, and continued research. It also aims to draw attention to the need for better treatments and improved access to care.
