“Women living with gynaecological cancer: Are our policies meeting their needs?
Today, Tuesday 3 November 2026, in Athens, the Policy Dialogue ‘Improving the lives of women living with gynaecological cancer’ brings together perspectives from across policy, research, healthcare, patient advocacy and other relevant sectors.
The Dialogue is jointly organised by ECHoS – Establishing of Cancer Mission Hubs: Beyond Networks and Synergies and ELLOK, Hellenic Cancer Mission Hub, with the facilitation and support of the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies within the framework of the EU Mission on Cancer.
The question at the heart of the discussion is an important one: how well do policies and services respond to women’s needs throughout the course of the disease?
That means looking beyond prevention, early diagnosis and treatment to consider the wider realities of living with cancer, including psychological and social wellbeing, financial impact, employment, family life and life after cancer.
It also means examining the distance that can remain between what evidence tells us, what policy intends and what women actually experience in practice.
The Dialogue provides a space to exchange evidence and experience, identify gaps in our understanding of the Greek context and explore areas where further collaboration could make a difference.
Better care is not only about what happens in the clinic. It is also about how health systems and wider policies respond to the lives and needs of women.”
