Susan G. Komen has appointed Amber Guild as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2026. Guild is a breast cancer survivor and an experienced business leader with more than two decades of senior leadership experience.
She joins Susan G. Komen from McCann New York, where she has served as CEO since January 2023. Before joining McCann, Guild served as CEO of Grey and as President of The New York Times’ creative and marketing services division. Throughout her career, she has focused on organizational transformation, growth strategy and the use of technology and storytelling to build stronger engagement with audiences and customers.
Her appointment also brings a personal connection to Susan G. Komen’s mission. As a breast cancer survivor, Guild will combine her professional leadership experience with her lived experience of the disease as she takes responsibility for leading the organization’s research, advocacy and patient-support efforts.
Speaking about her appointment, Guild said:
“I am deeply honored to join Komen as its President and CEO, and I am inspired to work alongside Komen ‘s incredibly talented and committed team to apply my professional and lived experiences to make a difference on behalf of so many.”
She emphasized that, despite progress over the past four decades, major challenges remain, including disparities in breast cancer mortality and increasing diagnoses among younger women. Guild called for sustained public- and private-sector investment in research and resources for the medical and scientific community to accelerate efforts to end deaths from breast cancer.
According to Susan G. Komen, approximately 170,000 people in the United States are living with incurable breast cancer, while barriers to care continue to affect many patients. The organization also stated that Komen-funded research has contributed to advances associated with 31 of the last 32 FDA-approved breast cancer treatments over the past 30 years.
Ed Dandridge, Chair of the Susan G. Komen Board of Directors and Executive Vice President of AIG, welcomed Guild to the role, highlighting her personal connection to the organization’s mission and her experience in organizational growth and transformation. He said:

Guild will take the helm as Susan G. Komen continues its work across breast cancer research, patient care and advocacy. According to the organization, approximately 170,000 people in the United States are living with incurable breast cancer, while about 70% of patients experience at least one barrier to potentially life-saving care. Komen also reports that research it has funded has helped advance 31 of the last 32 FDA-approved breast cancer treatments over the past 30 years.
