Maximilian Merz: Proud to Be Appointed Associate Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine

Maximilian Merz, Associate Professor at Joan and Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University, shared on LinkedIn:

“Very proud to share that I have been appointed Associate Professor of Medicine at Joan and Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York.

These two photos were taken almost exactly two years apart. On the left, the day I was appointed Apl. Professor at the Leipzig University. On the right, a few weeks ago, following my appointment here in New York 🇺🇸.

I will not pretend the move was easy. Relocating a family across an ocean has been one of the most demanding things we have ever undertaken. Yet the experience has already proven worth every bit of it.

I am proud of my wife and myself for taking the leap. But I am most proud of our two children. Watching them adapt has taught me more about meeting challenges and stepping out of my own comfort zone than almost anything else.

I am incredibly grateful to my mentor, Saad Z. Usmani, for the opportunity to practice medicine and cure myeloma at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, one of the best – if not THE best – cancer centers in the world.

While being a big fish in a small pond might feel great for your ego, the opposite makes you want to grow!

Onwards.”
