Federica Giugliano, Former ESMO Research Fellow at Gustave Roussy, shared on LinkedIn:
“After three and a half years, it’s time for me to say goodbye to Gustave Roussy.
I arrived with a lot of curiosity and a lot to learn. Looking back, these years taught me what translational research really is, going from bench to bedside and back again, and what it means to do research with patients at the center.
They also made me more resilient, and a better scientist.
None of this would have been possible without the support of ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology, which awarded me a Research Fellowship in 2024. I’m grateful to ESMO for believing in my work and supporting me as a young researcher.
But the biggest thing I’m taking with me is the people.
I want to thank Fabrice Andre for following me all this time. He taught me to question things, to look at problems from new angles, and to trust myself enough to aim higher.
I’m grateful to Maria Fernanda Mosele for being by my side every step of the way. Her guidance and constant support were invaluable, and I learned a lot from working with her.
A big thank you also to Barbara Pistilli, who guided me through the clinical side of my work. She’s been a true inspiration to me, and I’ll carry her example with me. Together with her incredible team, she showed me how to bring research and the best clinical practice together.
I’m also thankful to everyone else I had the luck to work with, who made every project (and every day) better.
Finally, thank you to Paris, for being the most beautiful backdrop I could have imagined.
I’m leaving with a full heart. Merci beaucoup!”
