Emanuele Guido, MD, Visiting Scientist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, shared on LinkedIn:
“I’ll be spending the final year of my Hematology Residency Program in Boston, joining Prof. Rizwan Romee’s lab at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to work on novel NK cell-based therapies for hematological malignancies.
We stand on the shoulders of giants: I feel a certain sense of reverential awe walking through these corridors, knowing that this is where Sidney Farber pioneered the first successful treatments for childhood leukemia, laying the foundations of modern cancer chemotherapy.
Since then, discoveries made here shaped the course of cancer research worldwide, changing not only our understanding of hematological diseases, but also what we can offer our patients.
I’m deeply grateful to Zegna Foundation for awarding me the Ermenegildo Zegna Founder’s Scholarship and generously funding this year abroad.
My thanks also to the faculty of the School of Specialization in Hematology at University of Milan for supporting this opportunity, and to my colleagues and mentors at ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo for everything they’ve taught me and for their encouragement along the way.
Quite fortunate to be here. I hope to make the most of it.”
