Tanya Buchanan: I will be stepping down as CEO of Cancer Council Australia in May
Tanya Buchanan, Chief Executive Officer at Cancer Council Australia, recently shared on LinkedIn:
”A quick update and some news to share. I will be stepping down as CEO of Cancer Council Australia in May. It has been an absolute privilege to serve as the Cancer Council Australia CEO since 2020. Since joining Cancer Council Australia, I have been honoured to work alongside committed and exceptional colleagues, partners, members, and stakeholders from across the sector.
Cancer Council Australia is absolutely committed to reducing the incidence of cancer and its impact on all Australians. I know that the talented and driven team will continue to deliver on the vision of achieving a cancer free future and I am excited to see what they achieve.
From May, I will be joining Dementia Australia, another fabulous organisation, to ensure that the needs of the more than 421000 Australians living with dementia and the 1.6 million people involved in their care are being met. I look forward to continuing to work with my public health friends in this important field and to meeting my new colleagues soon.
I would also like to acknowledge the current CEO Maree McCabe AM, who has led the Dementia Australia team through a significant period of change and growth and has, through her work at Dementia Australia and more broadly within the sector, made such a tremendous difference to the lives of people living with dementia, their families, and carers.”
