Maira Caleffi Is Running For The UICC Board of Directors
Maira Caleffi, Breast Oncologist at Moinhos de Vento Hospital in Porto Alegre, Brazil is running for the UICC Board of Directors.
She served as a Board member of the Union of International Cancer Control (UICC) from 2012 to 2018.
This year she’s running among other candidates including Matti Aapro, Tsetsegsaikhan Batmunkh, Stella Aguinaga Bialous, Purna Kurkure, Hana Chaar Choueib, Todd Harper, Christopher Jackson, Dilyara Kaidarova, David Kerr, Eric Bouffet, Gilberto Lopes, Kenji Lopez-Cuevas, Asem Mansour, Miriam Mutebi, Omar Nimri, C S Pramesh, Kathleen Schmeler, and Naoto Ueno.
In addition, Dr. Maira works as volunteer chair leader for City Cancer Challenge in her hometown, and the local leader of Integrated Cancer Control Initiative in LatAm.
She is also the Founder and Volunteer President of FEMAMA and IMAMA. She serves as the President Of The Board Of Directors at IGCC – Institute of Cancer Governance and Control. She is also the Head Of Department of the Breast Center at Hospital Moinhos de Vento.
Dr. Maria has also serves as the Technical Consultant for GBCI WHO and Chair of the Executive Committee of the City Cancer Challenge Porto Alegre Brazil.
Education
Dr. Caleffi is a highly qualified medical professional, holding degrees in Pharmacy and Medicine, along with a residency in Gynaecology and Obstetrics. She specializes in Breast Surgical Oncology, having trained at Guy’s Hospital in London, UK.
Dr. Caleffi completed her doctoral thesis in Medicine at the University of London and further enhanced her expertise through post-doctoral studies in Genetics and Breast Cancer at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, USA.
Her extensive education and specialized training underscore her commitment to advancing the field of oncology and improving patient outcomes.
