Zidane Ngandjon: European Cancer Summit 2024 – a crucial platform to evaluate the implementation of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan
Zidane Ngandjon, Research Assistant Trainee at Luxembourg Institute of Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Under the aegis of the Registre National du Cancer Luxembourg and the Epidemiology of Cancer Group EPICAN of the Luxembourg Institute of Health, I participated in the European Cancer Summit 2024 organized by the European Cancer Organisation on 20 and 21 November in Brussels, Belgium.
This event was a crucial platform to evaluate the implementation of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan EU Cancer Plan, highlighting the need for accelerated progress in prevention, early detection, treatment, research, and patient care, while addressing the increasing burden on healthcare professionals.
This was an opportunity for me to learn more about the various European initiatives in the fight against cancer, in particular European cancer Pulse, European Cancer Screening Policy Index, EUonQoL, INTERACTEUROPE100, PROTECT EUROPE, smartCARE.
I am delighted that the voice of cancer registries has been heard to underline the important role they play in the global strategy to fight cancer through the vital source of data they provide.
On the sidelines of the Summit, I also attended a meeting of Young Cancer Professionals, a platform dedicated to young professionals in the field of cancer who are enthusiastic and eager to make their contribution to the fight against cancer, which is everyone’s responsibility.
Overall, it was an inspiring time of engaged discussion, sharing, learning and networking. I look forward to building on this experience in my professional development and continuing to contribute to the fight against cancer.
Many thanks to the organizers!”
