Zainul Aabideen Reflects on 4th POEM Scientific Meeting in Amman
Zainul Aabideen, Head of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Pediatric BMT at Burjeel Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It was an amazing experience to be part of the recent gathering of pediatric oncologists from across the MENA region, 4th POEM Scientific Meeting held over the last three days in Amman, Jordan. The event provided a truly enriching platform to exchange knowledge, share clinical experiences, and understand the diversity in pediatric oncology practices across different countries in the region.
I had the honor of chairing a remarkable session focused on CAR-T cell therapy and bone marrow transplantation. It was a privilege to host and learn from internationally renowned experts such as Dr. Gaurav Narula from Tata Memorial Hospital, Dr. Leslie Lehmann from Boston Children’s Hospital, and Dr. Brandon Triplett from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Their insights on CAR-T implementation, program development, and the latest innovations in bone marrow transplantation were invaluable.
Beyond the scientific sessions, this meeting offered a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old colleagues, forge new friendships, and build meaningful collaborations. Together, we renewed our shared commitment to advancing care for children with cancer and taking the science of pediatric oncology forward in our region.
Moments like these remind us of the power of regional collaboration and global learning in transforming outcomes for our young patients.”
