Windsor Cancer Centre Raised $2.7 Million for ‘Game Changer’ Surgical Robot
The Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation has successfully raised a record-breaking $2.7 million through its Grow on Windsor Campaign.
These vital funds will go towards the purchase of the DaVinci Xi Surgical Robot, set to replace the centre’s previous robotic system.
The DaVinci Xi is a state-of-the-art tool used for minimally invasive surgeries, particularly benefiting prostate and kidney cancer patients.
This new addition will elevate the level of care provided to the Windsor community, offering patients access to cutting-edge technology without having to leave home.

Sindu Kanjeekal is a hematologist-oncologist and serves as the Chief of the Department of Oncology at Windsor Regional Hospital.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Brunswick and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Western Ontario.
Dr. Kanjeekal completed her residency training in Internal Medicine and Hematology at Hamilton Health Sciences Centre, McMaster University, and her Medical Oncology Residency at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, University of Ottawa.
In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Kanjeekal is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Windsor and in the Department of Oncology at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry – Windsor Campus.
She teaches both in the classroom and clinical settings, mentoring students while also facilitating a longitudinal course focused on personal growth and reflection for learners.
