Virginia Galvín: Should critical medications be integrated into defense budgets?
Virginia Galvín, Head of Political Advocacy Engagement at Merck group, shared o post on LinkedIn:
“Today, Monday, we started with a Wake Up Spain that was actually a “Wake up, Europe,” as emphasized by our Merck Group´s CEO, Belén Garijo, who participated in the big event organized in Madrid by EL ESPAÑOL in the presence of the King of Spain and surrounded by some of the main representatives of the Ibex 35 companies, among many others.
In front of an audience of more than 300 people, Belén Garijo stated the following:
It is urgent that we continue to boost Europe’s competitiveness with a sense of urgency. This cannot be done solely by industry; it requires public-private collaboration. The diagnosis by Draghi and Letta is already established, and now it’s time to take action with a clear roadmap.
We need to abolish overregulation, which consumes a significant amount of financial and human resources. We must reduce bureaucracy in Europe.
Throughout Merck’s 356 years of history, we have navigated critical moments with diversification and resilience, always clear in our mission to serve patients, researchers, and customers worldwide.
Diversity is a competitive advantage. It generates value in business and is certainly not at odds with meritocracy. The world is diverse, and so are our customers. I believe this is a matter of common sense.
Should critical medications be integrated into defense budgets, as some argue? I maintain that my objective is to ensure that medications reach those in need and on time.
Germany has been and will again be the powerhouse. It has the elements to do so, and I am very confident that this will happen.
It was a pleasure to hear from Andrius Kubilius, Roberta Metsola (video), Carme Artigas (“ethics must be included in governance”, yes indeed!), Luis Furnells, Paco Salcedo, Federico Linares, Albert Triola, José Manuel Entrecanales, Josu Jon Imaz, etc…
Thanks to Pedro J. Ramírez for the invitation, and to Arturo Criado Gea and Eduardo Ortega Socorro for shaking up the table and the conversation.
“Wake up” should be a common claim for all of us (today doubly so, with the time change).”
