Vikhyat (Vik) Bebarta: Honored to have been invited to speak at the National Academy of Sciences

Vikhyat (Vik) Bebarta, Director, CU Anschutz Campus Center for COMBAT Researchshared a post on LinkedIn:

“Honored to have been invited to lead a panel and to speak on our experience at the National Academy of Sciences and NASEM Health and Medicine Division on strengthening military-civilian partnerships for readiness, innovation, and public health.

I shared insights and success from the CU Center for COMBAT Research on how we can advance acute and trauma care, research and innovation, psychological health, sustainment training, and disaster preparedness/readiness to improve outcomes both on the battlefield and back home.

Thank you to the esteemed small group of national experts, long-time colleagues, and the panelists for the engaging discussion on our shared vision for future collaboration!

– Our next steps: take action to change policy and practice.”

Arthur Lodge Kellermann, Professor and Dean F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, shared the above post on LinkedIn, adding:

“The best response to this conference would be for the National Academies – particularly the National Academy of Medicine – to induct more members with past or present service in military health.

Given military health professionals’ broad and highly impactful contributions to American medicine, surgery, behavioral health, biomedical research and public health, they are severely underrepresented in the ranks of the Academy.

As a longtime member of the NAM, it is clear to me and many other members that we need more.”
