Shrenik Shah: Finding Strength – A Journey of Rebuilding After Losing Voice to Cancer

Shrenik Shah, Patient Ambassador and Moderator of Fridays with Shrenik Live webinar at Indian Cancer Society, posted on LinkedIn:

“1997- I lost my voice to cancer

December 1997- My new voice was rejected…

2024- 100,000+ lives impacted globally. Cancer took my voice.

The familiar sound I’d known all my life was gone, replaced by something new, something I had to learn to accept. It wasn’t easy. In December of that year, I spoke in public for the first time with my new voice… and it was rejected.

I remember the looks, the whispers. It felt like the world had turned its back on me. But deep inside, that rejection sparked something else—a fire, a determination. I knew, even then, that giving up was never an option. Over the years, that fire fueled me through some of the darkest moments.

I embraced my loss, not as a defeat but as a new beginning. I accepted my differently enabled voice, not as a disability but as a gift.

This was my chance to turn life 2.0 into something extraordinary. Fast forward to 2024—thousands of miles traveled, 100,000+ lives touched. What started as my greatest challenge became my greatest strength.

My voice, once rejected, is now my identity. It’s what makes me stand out. And once I speak to someone, I don’t have to reintroduce myself—they remember.

On September 5th, this Teacher’s Day, I renewed my vows—not just to survive, but to thrive. I promised myself that I’d keep going, keep sharing, and keep helping others get past their own obstacles. Life 2.0 isn’t just about me anymore. It’s about lifting others, showing them that even when life seems impossible, there’s always a way forward.

Cancer may have taken my voice, but it never touched my spirit. And now, I use that voice to remind everyone I meet that their struggles, too, can be turned into strength.

If I can do it, so can you.

Here’s to the next chapter—a life of purpose, passion, and perseverance.”Shrenik Shah: Finding Strength - A Journey of Rebuilding After Losing Voice to Cancer
