Princess Dina Mired: A Child’s Survival Should Never Depend on Geography
Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired shared a post on X:
“A Child’s Survival Should Never Depend on Geography
In the latest episode of Global Health Dialogues with Princess Dina, HE Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu. I discuss a heartbreaking truth: a child with leukemia in a low-income country has only a 10% chance of survival compared to 90% in wealthier nations.
“As a mother of cancer survivor…I find it so tragic that a child with Leukemia in a low-income country has a 10 percent chance for a cure as opposed to a 90 % chance in high-income countries…I cannot begin to imagine knowing that the miracle drug is there but a child in Africa cannot access it because he/she is in the wrong geographic place in this world.” Princess Dina
This is an injustice we cannot accept. It’s time to close the gap in global health equity, access to treatment, and childhood cancer care.
