One of the greatest champions in the cancer fight, Rep. Nita Lowey, has passed away – ACS CAN New York

“American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of the greatest champions in the cancer fight Rep. Nita Lowey.

She was an advocate for NY and families nationwide. We offer our sincere condolences to her family.”

Lisa Lacasse, President of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), reshared the post on X, adding:

Heartfelt condolences to Rep. Lowey’s family.

She was an advocate for cancer research funding and access to health care, and the first woman to chair the House Appropriations Committee.

Grateful for her contributions in the fight against cancer.”
