Douglas R. Lowy, M.D., is the Principal Deputy Director of the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Chief of the Laboratory of Cellular Oncology within its Center for Cancer Research. He has served multiple terms as Acting Director of NCI.
Since 2010, Dr. Lowy has been Deputy Director of NCI, contributing to its leadership and research initiatives. As Chief of the Laboratory of Cellular Oncology, Dr. Douglas R. Lowy’s research focuses on the basic and translational aspects of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and the study of cancer-related genes.
John T. Schiller, Ph.D., is a senior investigator in the Laboratory of Cellular Oncology at the National Cancer Institute. He serves as chief of the Neoplastic Disease Section and deputy lab chief and was designated an NIH Distinguished Investigator in 2016.
Dr. Schiller’s research centers on HPV virion assembly, infection, vaccine development, and treatments for HPV-related diseases, as well as other sexually transmitted infections and cancers.
