Michael Sapienza: ARPA-H’s $142M ADAPT Program to Advance Colorectal Cancer Research

Michael Sapienza, Chief Executive Officer of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The Colorectal Cancer Alliance applauds the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) and its Advanced Analysis for Precision Cancer Therapy (ADAPT) program led by Andrea Bild, Ph.D. for committing up to $142 million to combat aggressive cancers, including colorectal cancer.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. and cases continue to rise in people under 50. With over 154,000 Americans expected to be diagnosed in 2025, the need for smarter, personalized treatment approaches is urgent.
Dr. Bild’s ADAPT program aims to meet that need by dynamically matching therapies to the changing biology of colorectal cancer tumors that often evolve to resist traditional therapies. Through a combination of advanced predictive models, novel biomarker development, and evolutionary clinical trial design, ADAPT will allow clinicians to detect molecular changes early, and recommend the most effective next-line treatments in real-time.
The Alliance is excited to be partnered with the ASCEND-CRC project awardees at UT MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER, including Project Cure CRC lead Scott Kopetz, M.D., to ensure the patient voice is always represented in research. Read the full press release here.”
