Michael Hofman: Honoring Felix Feng
Dr. Felix Feng was the Vice Chair for Translational Research at Department of Radiation Oncology of University of California San Francisco. He was a distinguished Professor of Radiation Oncology, Urology, and Medicine and served as a Director at Benioff Initiative for Prostate Cancer Research.
Dr. Feng’s research focused on personalizing treatments for patients with aggressive prostate cancer by uncovering the factors driving treatment resistance and devising approaches to counteract them.
On December 10, 2024, after battling with cancer, Dr. Feng passed away in his sleep. Oncodaily extends heartfelt condolences to Dr. Feng’s family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones. Here are some tributes from his colleagues in honor of his untimely passing.
Michael Hofman, Nuclear Medicine Physician at Melbourne’s Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Director of ProsTic, shared a post by Renu Eapen, Urologist at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, on X:
“Thanks, Renu Eapen for sharing this picture with Felix Feng. I was hiking out of coverage when the news about Felix’s death came through. In a slither of cell coverage on the highest peak in Tasmania I received the news…
Hiking for a few more days gave me time to reflect on Felix’s life – so much achieved in such a short time. A truly incredible scientific track record reshaping global clinical practice.
And delivered in the true spirit of Team Science, helping so many – including me – along the way. So pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with Felix on our PCF Science tactical grant. His legacy will endure forever.”
Quoting Renu Eapen’s post:
“I was lucky to call him a colleague, mentor and above all, a friend. His legacy lives on. Be at peace Felix Feng.”
