Mel Mann: Helping others have fact-based knowledge of clinical trials and access to them
Mel Mann, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Honored to be a part of this very important Walgreens Clinical Trials mission to help others have fact-based knowledge of clinical trials and access to them.
Patients and caregivers won’t have to occur painful out of pocket expenses to fly halfway across the country and live out of hotels for months like I did.
As many of you know I was diagnosed with terminal cancer 30 years ago at age 37. A clinical trial saved my life, years before the experimental drug was approved by the FDA. I would have died if I was not on the trial and had to wait for the drug to be approved. That drug now works for 11 different cancers.
I have been able to see my 5 year-old daughter grow up and become a board certified physician and to also celebrate 40 years of marriage to my beautiful bride.
I am Exhibit A of clinical trials. Clinical trials provide access to tomorrow’s medicine today.”
