Medicaid Cancer Foundation – Empowering Healthcare Professionals for Cervical Cancer Elimination
Medicaid Cancer Foundation shared on LinkedIn:
“Empowering Healthcare Professionals for Cervical Cancer Elimination
Equipping healthcare professionals with cutting-edge knowledge is critical to eliminating cervical cancer. This commitment drove our recent 5-credit transformative Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, hosted in partnership with Roche on November 22, 2024, themed ‘Cervical Cancer Elimination through Prevention, Screening, and Research.’
Aligned with the WHO’s 90;70;90 agenda, the CME gathered experts and healthcare practitioners from Federal Medical Centre Jabi, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital and NHA at the National Hospital Abuja. Together, we focused on achieving:
90% HPV vaccination coverage
70% cervical screening rate
90% access to treatment for pre-cancer and invasive cancer
The program featured:
– A keynote by Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu on championing cervical cancer elimination globally
– Expert insights from Professor Ifeoma Okoye, Dr. Yinka Olaniyan, Prof. Adekunle Oguntayo, and Ms. Elizabeth Hassan.
– Hands-on training in HPV testing, vaccination, and thermal ablation
Why this matters: Continuous training for healthcare professionals is essential for scaling prevention and treatment efforts. By empowering healthcare providers with advanced skills and resources, we’re one step closer to making cervical cancer a thing of the past.
Join us as we push for more educational initiatives to support the WHO elimination targets. Together, we can create a future free of cervical cancer.”
