Maria Kavallaris: Cutting-Edge Science

Maria Kavallaris, Non-Executive Board Director at National Breast Cancer Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It’s a wrap! CRS2025 was incredible!
What an amazing week at the Controlled Release Society Annual Meeting in Philadelphia -filled with inspiration, connection, and cutting-edge science.

Opening Plenary by Robert Langer
A true highlight! His reflections on his personal and professional journey were deeply inspiring – and he received a rockstar reception!

Tour de force Plenary by Molly Stevens DBE
Her research and translation is phenomenal

Nobel Laureate Drew Weissman
Took us on the journey of RNA, vaccines, and now cell therapies. Amazing science and advances.

Honoured to be inducted as a CRS Fellow
I’m incredibly grateful to my past and present team members and collaborators who’ve been part of this journey. Congratulations to my fellow 2025 CRS Fellows:
Amirali Popat, Cornell Stamoran, Dan Peer, Eben Alsberg, Luis Brito, Mark Grinstaff, Michael J Mitchell, Vincent Jannin, Willem Mulder, Xiaoming Xu, Xiuling Lu, and Zhen Gu.

Young Scientist Mentoring Committee Panel
Chairs Juan, Aparicio Blanco and Sarah S. Nasr– thank you for inviting me to speak on the panel:
“Moving from one-size-fits-all to meeting the individual needs of trainees.”
Great insights from co-panelists Cristina Fornaguera Puigvert, Alejandro J. Paredes, and Paola Luciani.

Titans of CRS Session
It was an honour to be part of this session alongside Alexander Kabanov, Ronit Satchi-Fainaro, Vladimir Muzykantov, and Tamara Minko, expertly moderated by Juliane Nguyen and Roy van der Meel.
Special congrats to my friend Ronit Satchi-Fainaro for receiving the CRS Samyang Award, her talk and research was truly inspiring!

RNA Technologies Session
I co-chaired an excellent session with Dan Peer – the science and presentations selected through meritorious abstracts were outstanding.

Team Highlights
Proud of Amy Logan for her fantastic talk on LNPs and neuroblastoma, and of Lakshika Keerthirathna, whose poster on in vivo CAR T cells for paediatric brain cancer drew great interest!

Huge congratulations to Assaf Zinger, the program committee chair, and the entire team and CRS staff for organising such a phenomenal conference.
Well done Avi Schroeder for leading CRS as President
