Lisa Lacasse: It’s been a little over a week since we celebrated the life of my dear friend, Keysha Brooks-Coley
Lisa Lacasse, President of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It’s hard to believe it’s been a little over a week since we celebrated the life of my dear friend, colleague, and fellow advocate in the fight against cancer, Keysha Brooks-Coley. I’ve spent the last several days reflecting on what she meant to me – and to so many in the advocacy and cancer community.
Keysha joined American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) in 2008, just a few months after I did. She brought brilliance, strategy, and heart to our federal advocacy work from the start. She led with a clear sense of purpose and a passion for health equity that shaped every decision she made.
She went on to lead our Federal team, where her leadership left a lasting mark – not just on policy, but on our people. Though Keysha stepped down from her role at ACS CAN in 2021 to pursue new professional opportunities, she always supported our mission.
Keysha was more than a colleague. She was my friend. She was a light in every room, a mentor to many, and an advocate who never stopped using her voice for those who had lost theirs. Her principles and values continue to inspire me every single day.
On behalf of Keysha and the countless others who have led this fight, I will continue this work. It’s what she believed in, and it’s what she would want. I will carry her legacy with me always – and I know many of you will, too.
The work continues – and so does her impact.”
