John Marshall on Bridging the Gap Between Specialists and Community Oncologists
John Marshall, Director of the Otto J Ruesch Center for the Cure of GI Cancers at Georgetown University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“How do we bridge the gap between specialists who dedicate their lives to one disease and the community doctors who treat most of our patients?
That was a key theme from ASCO GI. Community oncologists are doing incredible work, but how can we help them do even better? How do we ensure patients receive the best care with the latest advancements?
Right now, there’s a wave of new drugs coming for GI cancers, including promising RAS-targeted agents with strong response rates in pancreatic and colon cancer. Patients and doctors alike are aware of these breakthroughs, but the challenge? There simply aren’t enough slots for all the patients who need them.
This is our next step forward.
- Expanding access.
- Strengthening connections.
