Rohan Garje Speaks on CBS4 Miami About Joe Biden’s Recent Diagnosis and Prostate Cancer Awareness
Rohan Garje, Associate Professor, Chief of Genitourinary Medical Oncology at Miami Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Last night, I had the opportunity to speak with CBS4 Miami about the importance of prostate cancer awareness and treatment – especially in light of former President Joe Biden’s recent diagnosis.
At 82, President Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, as indicated by a high Gleason score and evidence of bone metastases.
During the interview, I highlighted the role of early detection and regular screening—particularly for men over 50 or those with a family history of prostate cancer. Because symptoms can be subtle or even absent in early stages, routine check-ups are key to timely diagnosis and more effective treatment.
We also discussed the tremendous progress in prostate cancer care. Thanks to advances in hormone therapy, chemotherapy, radioligand therapies, and targeted treatments, patients today are living longer, healthier lives—even with advanced disease.

Let’s continue to raise awareness, encourage regular screenings, and support ongoing research to improve outcomes for pts affected by prostate cancer.”
