Jesús Rojo-Santiago: I would like to thank ESTRO for the opportunity to present my work in proton therapy
Jesús Rojo-Santiago, Medical Physicist in training and PhD Student at Erasmus Medical Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I would like to thank European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) for the opportunity to present my work in proton therapy.
We proposed a 4D probabilistic robustness evaluation approach to comprehensively assess plan robustness for esophageal cancer patients treated with IMPT at HollandPTC we evaluated robustness against geometrical uncertainties, range errors, and breathing motion.
Our results indicate that current clinical treatment planning at our institution produces safe but conservative plans. We also showed that reducing dose prescription or applying lower robustness settings could significantly decrease average heart dose and NTCP—opening the door to more personalized and effective treatments.”
