Jennifer Douglas: Recovery is a process
Jennifer Douglas, Writer and DCIS Breast Cancer Patient Advocate, shared on LinkedIn:
“Recovery is a process, not an event. After my breast cancer treatment, I longed for a day of feeling recovered, but I’d wake up, go through my day, and be tired again by afternoon. It was hard.
But as I reflected, I realized I was making steady progress.
A change in my perspective helped. Instead of thinking of recovery as an event, I realized it was a process of making small steps of progress each day.
Shifting my mindset helped me reframe my ideas of what recovery from cancer treatment would be in my life.”
