“This week I had the honor of joining more than 160 cancer center leaders, scientists, and patient advocates on Capitol Hill for the 2025 AACR–AACI Hill Day.
As Director of VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center and President of the AACI (Association of American Cancer Institutes), I spoke with lawmakers about what’s at stake in cancer research—not in theory, but in the lives of patients, in the aspirations of young scientists, and in the hard-earned progress we’ve achieved together.
This Hill Day wasn’t just about statistics. It was about standing up for science, for patients, and for a future where everyone has access to the lifesaving power of research.”
