World Cancer Day 2025
The second day of the 9th ELLOK Conference, coinciding with World Cancer Day, marks a historic moment for oncology care in Greece, following the announcements by the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis. The National Cancer Registry, a long-standing need and demand from patients, is finally being implemented.
The day included a series of important roundtable discussions, such as the presentation of preliminary data from the survey on the reality of the healthcare system from the perspective of cancer patients, the key presence of General Secretaries from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, as well as the presentation of the Greece Country Profile (O.E.C.D). Additionally, a special reference was made by the Deputy Minister of Health, Marios Themistokleous, on the significant developments in the field of prevention.
The celebration of 40 years of Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology concluded a particularly important day for health in Greece, with promising steps for the future of oncology care.”
