Héctor Vaquera: Prevalence of medical writing in hematological malignancy review articles

“New paper out.
Glad to have collaborated in this project where we analyzed the usage of medical writing services in review articles in the top 10 highest ranked heme journals in the JCR IF list.
- 5.7% articles reported medical writing services employed.
- Prevalence was highest in plasma cell malignances reviews.
- Only Blood has policies banning How I Treat articles written by medical writers.
- 97.3% of reviews with medical writing came form HIC (mostly US).
Almost every review that reported medical writing services was industry sponsored. Should we expect more of this with funding changes in USA?”
