Svetlana Nikic: Healthcare System Mapping and Reimbursement Insights Across Europe
Svetlana Nikic, Founder of Precision Oncology Consulting, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“In case you still did not have a chance to look into our ‘Healthcare System Mapping and Reimbursement Processes Insights’ across Spain, Germany, France, and Italy, here attached you can find the Executive Report.
Did you know that health technology assessment (HTA) priorities vary significantly across countries? For example, in France, HTA bodies place greater emphasis on clinical evidence, while in Spain, the focus often leans more toward budget impact analyses, though still supported by clinical utility data.
In our Insights, we also describe different national catalogues used for coding and reimbursement of molecular diagnostics, such as:
- France, which uses the Catalogue of Medical Biology Procedures (NABM) and the Homogeneous Hospital Stay Groups (GHS) system, which relies on Common Classification of Medical Procedures (CCAM) codes within a bundled DRG model.
- Germany uses the Uniform Value Scale (EBM) and the German Diagnosis-Related Groups (G-DRG) system, which incorporates Operation and Procedure Codes (OPS).
- Italy follows the Essential Levels of Care (LEA) framework, using ICD-9-CM codes within a DRG-based reimbursement structure.
- Spain uses the Common Catalogue of Genetic / Genomic Tests, which is complemented by additional regional catalogues (but doesn’t necessarily lead to implementation nor reimbursement).
I encourage you to visit our Precision Oncology Consulting website, where you can find this and other purchasable insights, alongside freely available AI-generated audio’s of each insight.
Currently, we apply a 10% discount on country-focused reports, whereas the full, 70-page report has a 15% discount – THESE OFFERS END on August 1st.
Please share with your network and give me your feedback – this took a lot of time to make (with Kristine Jinnett, PhD and I would like to know if this type of insight is useful in this format. Thank you!”
