“Light Through Darkness: Miracles Along My Cancer Journey” – Harriet Cabelly

Michelle Kirschner, Medical Advisory Board Chairman at OneVillage, shared a post on LinkedIn by Harriet Cabelly, adding:

“Celebrating Resilience and Hope

We are thrilled to share the inspiring journey of one of our own, Harriet Cabelly, a member of the Cancer Survivorship Provider Network, who has recently published her deeply personal book, ‘Light Through Darkness: Miracles Along My Cancer Journey’. Writing can be both cathartic and healing, and for her, this book written after being deemed cancer-free, was especially so.

Harriet’s background as a licensed clinical social worker, working within the framework of positive psychology and logotherapy, has allowed her to bring a unique and impactful perspective to her book. Her calling is in encouraging people to live their best lives despite their circumstances. She believes in the power of choice in how we respond to life’s challenges. Harriet’s most meaningful work is in connecting with people through the depths of their pain of loss and grief. The authenticity, vulnerability, and connection she fosters is the greatest form of healing.

Harriet is passionate about helping people cope, heal, and grow through their adversities and begin to rebuild their lives with renewed meaning, purpose, and joy. Being on this journey with her clients is an honor, and she feels fortunate to be serving people in this manner. Her previous book, Living Well Despite Adversity: Inspiration for Finding Renewed Meaning and Joy in Your Life, published in 2017, is a compilation of interviews with people who have faced diverse adversities and have shown that there’s always hope. Harriet has recently completed chemotherapy treatment for non-Hodgkin’s B-cell lymphoma and now includes cancer care counseling for people going through cancer and post-treatment support.

While many books share the cancer journey, hers focuses on the small miracles that kept her going and helped her see the light during her darkest moments. Her hope is that it inspires you, provides comfort, and bolsters your resilience, no matter what challenges you face.

Spirituality can play a crucial role in the journey of cancer survivors. It provides a sense of purpose, hope, and connection that can be incredibly comforting during challenging times. Engaging in spiritual practices can help reduce anxiety, distress, and improve overall well-being. For many, spirituality becomes a source of strength and resilience, guiding them through their healing process.

Let’s continue to support and uplift each other, finding light even in the darkest moments.”

“The act of writing my most recent book, Light Through Darkness: Miracles Along My Cancer Journey, was deeply personal. Writing can be both cathartic and healing, and for me, this book written after being deemed cancer-free, was especially so.

While many books share the cancer journey, mine focuses on the small miracles that kept me going and helped me see the light during my darkest moments. My hope is that it inspires you, provides comfort, and bolsters your resilience, no matter what challenges you face.

Sometimes, it’s the the little things that bring the greatest hope.”
