Fred Kwame Awittor: City Cancer Challenge continues to support the fight against cancer in Ghana

Fred Kwame Awittor, Digital Health Manager at City Cancer Challenge(C/Can), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Just as clinical management of cancer requires a multidisciplinary approach leading to the best and most effective treatment plan ensuring better outcomes for patients, strengthening the health care system which will tackle this also requires multiple hands.

From a range of government agencies, health services deliverers to implementing partners, NGOs, Donor agencies and development partners, we at City Cancer Challenge believe in ensuring continual consultation and involvement of all stakeholders in our quest to supporting health systems to deliver quality assured, effective and sustainable services to cancer patients.

It is in light of this and our commitment to this approach that I embarked on a mission to continue our engagement with the Ministry Of Health, Ghana (MoH) and it’s implementing agency Ghana Health Service(GHS) as well as touching base with some industry partners in Ghana namely; Roche, GIZ Ghana, WCC and CHAI.

At the MoH and GHS level, we deliberated on a calendar of activities requiring their support to be executed for our Cycle II program in Kumasi and the need for a national dialogue to plan for scale up to the national level after this cycle. I proceeded to conduct check ins with the industry partners to learn of initiatives they are working on and finding synergies in our respective efforts to drive a more comprehensive approach to cancer care for the city of Kumasi.

A huge thanks to Rahilu Haruna, Wisdom Atiwoto and Dr Nicholas Adjabu all of MoH Ghana, Efua Commeh of GHS, Janice Anti, Salomey Kokoro, and Jeffrey Anyimadu Amoasah all of Roche, Juliette Edzeame of GIZ, Lady M. M. Wright and Kafui Tay of CHAI and Ayire Adongo of WCC for the wonderful meetings and fruitful discussions. We continue to push on with our quest to supporting the fight against cancer in Ghana.”
