Elizabeth Ugwoma Awo-Ejeh: Turning My Battle with Breast Cancer into Hope for Others

Elizabeth Ugwoma Awo-Ejeh, Advocate for Early Detection and Women’s Empowerment, shared a post on LinkedIn:

From Pain to Purpose: Turning My Battle with Breast Cancer into Hope for Others

In 2022, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I remember the doctor sharing a story about Angelina Jolie, who chose to remove her breasts because of a family history of cancer. When I got home, curiosity got the better of me. I started searching for stories about breast cancer survivors.

I won’t lie, I was deeply encouraged and amazed by how strong these women were. Their stories gave me hope, and I immediately drew strength from their journeys.

Looking back now, I realize that even in the midst of that dark and uncertain season, God was birthing something new in me.

He was giving me purpose – a vision to use my story to encourage and strengthen other women.

Today, I receive messages from women sharing how my story has inspired them to keep fighting and finally go for that scan they had been avoiding out of fear of the unknown.

I’m so glad I didn’t keep quiet.
I’m so glad I chose to speak up.
I’m so glad I’m able to impact lives, even in my own little way.

Your story is powerful too. Don’t be afraid to own it and share it. You never know who might find the strength to keep going because of you.”
