Dean Crowe: You Never Forget The War You Waged With Childhood Cancer
Dean Crowe, Founder and CEO of the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research , shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This is my why.
You never forget the war you waged with childhood cancer.
Not as a parent. Not as a kid. Not as someone who walked the journey with them.
Kristen was just 6 years old when I first met her—fighting leukemia with bravery well beyond her years. I’ve had the privilege and joy of watching her grow up, celebrate milestones, and become the incredible young woman she is today.
A few weeks earlier, she graduated from college. Last weekend, Kristen walked down the aisle to marry the love of her life.
And tucked beneath her wedding gown? Her port—sewn in by her mom, Jennifer. Quietly, lovingly, Jennifer reflected, ‘This little port saved your life.’
It was her ‘something old.’
A symbol of the fight.
A reminder of what she survived.And a reminder of why we at Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research keep fighting—for more graduations, more weddings, and more tomorrows.
