Meagan Echevarria: AYA Café at City of Hope is a Space Where Cancer Patients Can Take a Break From treatment
Meagan Echevarria, Program Manager of AYA Cancer Program and Outcomes Research at City of Hope, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This week, I had the chance to help cover our AYA Café at City of Hope – a space where young adult cancer patients can take a break from treatment and just be. Whether it’s grabbing a snack, chatting with someone who gets it, or playing a quick game, this space reminds me how powerful even small moments of normalcy can be.
During our recent AYA Game Day, I got to join patients in heated rounds of Uno. Laughter, a little friendly competition, and shared moments of joy brought us together in ways that clinical encounters sometimes can’t.
These are the moments that remind me why psychosocial support is so critical in AYA oncology care—and why creating these spaces for connection matters.
But seriously Davis Wideman comeback you are more fun!”
