Assia Konsoulova: Improving Bulgaria’s cancer system one oasis at a time – SPCC

“As a young oncologist, Assia Konsoulova learned the hard way about resistance to change when, on returning to Bulgaria, she tried to introduce ways of working that she’d experienced in some of Europe’s top cancer centres.

Rather than ‘taking on the system’, her strategy now is to provide an ‘oasis’ of excellence, and network with like-minded practitioners trying to build similar oases.
