“SHRO hosted PA State Rep. Jesse Topper, Republican Leader of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, on a tour of the newly constructed Sbarro Health Research Organization Genetic Research Laboratory in Philadelphia.
The laboratory project, which received substantial funding support from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, will house a new genetic research and drug development program which will focus on commercialization of several front-line cancer therapeutics.
Representative Topper and SHRO team discussed higher education in Pennsylvania and its role in preparing young scientists for careers in genetics and medical research.
We also discussed the importance of translating medical research to clinical settings – from the lab to the bedside – providing primary care physicians, particularly in rural settings, with the latest medical science and technology in order to improve patient care and clinical outcomes throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
