Andreas Charalambous: Cancer is Now the Second Leading Cause of Death in Cyprus
Andreas Charalambous, Chair Department of Nursing, Cyprus University of Technology at Cyprus University of Technology, shared on LinkedIn:
“Facts we simply can’t ignore – Cancer is now the second leading cause of death in Cyprus, with 4,500 new cases diagnosed every year.
Things that we can’t affort not to do – Update the National Cancer Plan, Intensify vaccination efforts, implement new nation-wide screening programmes (eg lung cancer), work towards establishing a CCC – While Cyprus has been making strides in its fight against cancer, more action is needed.
The joint ECO and PASYKAF Stakeholder Policy Forum opens with a pledge to international cooperation in shaping cancer policy at home and in Europe.
