Anđela Škarpa: Grateful for the opportunity to attend BGICC 2025
Anđela Škarpa, Project Officer and Policy Advisor at the European Alliance for Personalised Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“BGICC 2025: One World Fight
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to attend the Breast Gynecological and Immunooncology International Cancer Conference – BGICC 2025 on January 24-25 in Cairo, Egypt.
This prestigious event brought together thousands of participants from across the globe, including world-renowned oncologists, researchers, policymakers, and patient advocates.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to Prof. Hesham ElGhazaly and the entire organizing team for their dedication and excellence in putting together such a successful event.
This year, I had the privilege of attending BGICC 2025 as part of the International Cancer Patient Coalition (ICPC) where we hosted a High-Level Summit: From Unity, Strength – A Regional Pact for Cancer Care.
This side event marked a crucial step toward transforming cancer care in the MENA region, aligning patient-centered policies, innovation, and public-private collaborations into a coordinated regional strategy.
At the summit, key leaders from oncology, pharma, and patient advocacy discussed actionable steps to implement the Declaration of Cooperation – a commitment to enhancing cancer care accessibility and innovation across the region. The discussions covered critical areas such as:
- Public-private partnerships to accelerate research and drug access
- Advancing early detection and survivorship initiatives through policy integration
- Leveraging AI and big data for personalized cancer care
- Empowering MENA as a global innovation hub for oncology breakthroughs
It was an honor to engage with so many well respected healthcare professionals, including leading oncologists, pharmaceutical executives, patient advocates, and policymakers, to exchange knowledge and perspectives on the future of cancer care.
These conversations will continue in our upcoming ICPC interview series, where we will highlight key takeaways from BGICC 2025 and beyond.
I would like to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to all speakers and experts who contributed to the discussions. Conferences like BGICC provide an invaluable platform for promoting international collaboration and bridging gaps between scientific research, healthcare policy, and patient advocacy.
The future of oncology relies on strong partnerships between pharma, academia, and patient coalitions, and I am excited to be part of this ongoing journey.
Looking forward to continued collaborations and working towards a more inclusive, innovative, and patient-centered approach to cancer care.”
