Amy Moore: Honoring My Dad and Hoping to Live Up to the Example He Set on My First Father’s Day Without Him
Amy Moore, Director, Patient Engagement and Advocacy at Summit Therapeutics, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“My father passed away suddenly at the end of January.
When I was growing up, he worked in a cotton mill by day and finished drywall at night to provide for our family.
He lacked any formal education beyond high school but possessed intelligence, a sharp wit, and common sense that can’t be taught, only learned through lived experience.
Throughout my life, he was my biggest cheerleader and champion. He wanted me to use the gifts I have been given to help others.
I have tried to embrace every opportunity laid before me and walk through every open door, knowing he never had those same opportunities.
It was in those first days following his death that I was given the chance to join Summit.
My Dad believed in and lived out the Golden Rule – treat others the way you wish to be treated. I try to live up to that.
On this first Father’s Day without my Dad, I honor him and hope to live up to the example he set.”
