Alireza Mansouri: Groundbreaking Hope for Glioblastoma Patients
Alireza Mansouri, Associate Professor at Penn State Health, shared a post on X:
“Groundbreaking hope for glioblastoma patients. The Win-Glio trial in London is testing ipilimumab, an immunotherapy drug, given before standard treatments like surgery, radiation, and chemo to boost the immune system against GBM, the most aggressive brain cancer.
So far 1 patient has been tumor free for 2.5 years.
Now, the Win-Glio trial is recruiting newly diagnosed GBM patients for this Phase I/II study. Eligible patients need confirmed GBM, good overall health, and no prior immunotherapy. The trial involves a few weeks of ipilimumab IV doses, followed by standard care, with regular MRI scans to track progress. Main goals: longer survival, tumor control, and safety.
