Wafaa M Rashed: Future African Leader Spotlight – Kedir Hassen
Wafaa M Rashed, Faculty Lecturer of pharmacy at the Ahram Canadian University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Future African Leader Spotlight: Kedir Hassen | Ethiopia
We’re proud to highlight Kedir Hassen, a standout participant in the 8th Cohort of the Policy Advocacy in Genetics and Genomics course by PAPERI.
In this short video, Kadir shares his reflections on the course — how it deepened his understanding of the intersection between science, society, and policy — and how it has prepared him to advocate for equitable genomic research and healthcare systems in Africa.
Kadir is also gearing up for our live debate session on June 7, 2025, where he will argue a compelling case:
‘Africa should prioritize access to basic healthcare over high-cost personalized genomic medicine.’His message is clear: scientific innovation must be matched by ethical leadership, equity, and accessibility.
Let’s continue to uplift and support emerging leaders like Kadir — they are the future of health policy and genomics in Africa.”
