Phuong Ly-Gallagher: 17 years of colorectal cancer survivorship
Phuong Ly-Gallagher, Research Advocate Training and Support (RATS) Manager at Fight Colorectal Cancer, shared on LinkedIn: .
“This week, we celebrated 17 years of colorectal cancer survivorship. Throughout these many years, one thing that has carried me through has been gratitude. Gratitude for my daughter Taylor Gallagher and especially my husband Edward Gallagher for encouraging me and giving me strength to face the impossible, gratitude for finding the crc community I needed to learn from and to follow the research, gratitude for being a part of the 8% I was given to make it to long-term survivorship, gratitude for my parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews for all the food and love they sent in support, and laughs to keep me going. And for you, my friends, for every kind word, prayer, encouragement, act of help and love, I thank you for it all. Belle Piazza started me on my path of advocacy with her mantra, ‘Don’t retreat. Reload.’ And in sharing her guide to life, Diana Klutz Sloan reminds me every day how to live with ‘we dont wait.’
The Colon Club was first in the advocacy space to change my life. We have merged with Fight Colorectal Cancer, and the work continues with an amplified voice. I would love to get to $1,700 raised for 17 years of Survivorship. If you have some spare dollars, please consider joining me in celebration by making a tax-deductible donation to this very worthy organization so that we can continue this important work.
Many thanks for being a part of my journey.
Phuong.”
