Liang Cheng: The new journal impact factor and its global impact

Liang Cheng, Director of Anatomic Pathology and Molecular Pathology at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, shared a post on X:

“How often do you publish in those journals? Does it matter? The new journal impact factor has just been released, and it is a bear market across the board. This has a negative global impact! Your income may be adversely affected if you are awarded based on impact factor numbers, and your graduation or promotion may be delayed if your school awards degrees or promotion based on the numerical impact factor of your published papers.”
