“Supporting adaptation and adoption of evidence-based guidelines: a new initiative by WHO/Europe for better health outcomes!
Trustworthy guidelines are the cornerstone of giving evidence-informed advice in response to clinical, public health and health policy questions. Yet, developing guidelines is not always easy. How can we ensure guidelines are credible, fit for country contexts and are embraced by those who need to follow them?
Empowering Positive Change:
To assist Member States in this endeavor, WHO/Europe has developed a handbook for contextualization of guidelines for country contexts. It aids in the adoption and adaptation of evidence-based guidelines into national contexts, using systematic and transparent means while ensuring country ownership.
To champion this approach, a technical meeting brought together 45 health care policymakers and experts from 21 countries of the WHO European Region. During 2 intensive and exciting days of immersive technical training, they were introduced to international standards for trustworthy guidelines, and the development, adaptation and adoption processes using the WHO/Europe handbook.
Towards a Healthier Future:
These are only the first steps aimed to provide guidance to Member States at regional level on how to develop and contextualize evidence-based guidelines.
Together, we can unlock the full potential of evidence-based guidelines, ensuring they become transformative tools that enhance healthcare for all!”
