Sarah Benger: Cancer Australia Launch of the Australian Comprehensive Cancer Network in Sydney
Sarah Benger, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at
“At the Cancer Australia Launch of the Australian Comprehensive Cancer Network in Sydney today. Great to hear from Prof Chris Baggoley AO and Prof Jacinta Elston about their personal experiences and the inequities in our system, and how patients and carers are the most critical part of any network.
The Hon Mark Butler MP highlighted the Australian Cancer Plan ambition of equity – to deliver best treatment and care for every Australian no matter where they live, their background or their cancer type. That requires better networking and connection.
And that’s what we are all about at Rare Cancers Australia: supporting patients to access the treatment, information and support services they need and keeping them at the centre of their care and network. Then using their experience and insight to tackle the inequities in our system and bring about lasting changes in policy and practice.
Looking forward to working with others through the new Network and seeing how it can drive up the standard of diagnosis, treatment and care for people with rare, less common and complex cancers.”
