Ishwaria Subbiah: Unplugging from work when on vacation is no easy task

“Unplugging from work when on vacation is no easy task.
Short of total disconnection, any leader can implement a few practical steps. My top prof wellbeing pro tip is from this Forbes piece below:
‘If you must connect, be deliberate…Aim for the least amount of connection you can manage.’
‘Stay connected in appropriate ways without being mindless about it. Mindless connection is when you have your phone with you at all times, check email several times a day, read messages haphazardly, respond to some, skip others but then think about them for the next two hours …’
‘Deliberately staying connected would be telling your team you’ll check email at a specific hour each day and will only respond to one requiring action from you….or telling your staff that you’re not accessing email and to call you if something needs your attention…Trusting your staff to contact you if needed allows you to relax.’
