Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: Harry and Meghan in Nigeria, promoting Invictus games

“Harry and Meghan in Nigeria, promoting Invictus games.
Attending the event hosted by General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was indeed an honor.
At the event, I delivered a speech on Cancer Advocacy and collaboration, drawing parallels between my work and the Invictus Games, to emphasize the resilience shared by cancer patients and soldiers.
The Invictus Games Foundation, an organization founded by Prince Harry, offers a recovery path for injured service men and women, using sports to unify and heal. The co-creation of mental and physical health is one that resonates with me, having spent the last 17 years working with cancer patients in Africa. I also stressed the importance of educating and empowering women and girls in such initiatives.
With the King’s cancer diagnosis and Meghan’s 43% Nigerian blood, I pray the organizations around the Royal Family will come together and appreciate the need to include cancer advocacy in their programs.
Amidst all the controversy, I am thankful for the opportunity to have met this charming couple and excited that Nigeria leads the way as the first African country to join the Invictus Games.”
